About

Domaine des Aubineaux, a colonial house built in 1872, serves as the first stop on the Mauritian Tea Route. Converted into a museum, it showcases the history of tea production in Mauritius. Visitors can explore antique furniture, colonial photos, and displays highlighting the island’s tea industry. The peaceful Camphor tree garden offers views of exotic plants and the tea plantation. An old stable, now a distillery, reveals the secrets of essential oil distillation. The visit concludes with a 3-course lunch at Les Aubineaux restaurant, featuring authentic Mauritian cuisine.

Un lieu qui mérite d'être visité... Vous serez immédiatement plongé dans le passé de l'île Maurice. Cette maison coloniale est bourrée de charme et son grand jardin suscite de l'émerveillement.

The experience was average. Be sure to check with the Domaine des aubineaux first to confirm dates and time before booking on marideal. The visit starts at 9.30-10.00 am but visit cannot be done in the afternoon so that messed up our planning and the booking was not refundable. The factory was not open yesterday for visit. No salmon was available, they replaced it with tiny bits of chicken and a lot of liquid-y sauce. All in all, not a great experience.

We had a really good day at Bois Cheri, every one enjoyed the beautiful landscape. Concerning Domaine Des Aubineaux, where we had our lunch they arrange for plastic chairs which was not comfortable at all and we had to squeeze to sit properly, the staff said this all they can arrange. Good chairs were their but this was not available for us, I still don’t know why we were discriminated like that. Anyway food and service was good.

We had a very good day at Bois Cheri. The children enjoyed the fishing ,pedalo ride and kayaking at the lake. The staff was very friendly and helpful giving out bread for the fish, wiping dry the pedalo and kayak, showing us the swan eggs and baby swans. The children were even treated to adults' meals at no extra costs... The visit at the museum was so,so but that at the factory more interesting with explanations from a guide.
